Farm Cottages Scotland Luxury Self Catering Cottage in South Lanarkshire Lanarkshire holiday cottage

Come and stay in The Bothy, our beautiful & historic farm cottage in Scotland.

The Bothy is a lovingly restored farm cottage dating back to the the 1700s. It now provides luxury self-catering accommodation for 2 people and is the ideal retreat for a relaxing holiday or a romantic escape to the countryside. The cottage has been tastefully renovated and retains all the rustic charm character of a “Listed Building” with thick walls, traditional wooden sash and case windows and beautiful sandstone.

The spacious kitchen / dining room is well equipped and fitted to the highest standard. It is a real home from home and has everything you need for a special romantic meal. On warm summer nights, the patio and private garden make the perfect spot to get the barbecue out for sizzling some steaks!

On your return from a day’s sightseeing, relax in the stunning lounge with its solid oak flooring, leather sofa and sumptuous armchairs and put your feet up by the roaring log fire. Look out over your own walled garden and experience all our local wildlife; wrens, pheasants and a heron who feeds from our stream. Even a fox or badger has been known to pass by! If you want to catch up on some films, there’s a great selection of DVD to choose from or you can even watch our own DVD of the renovation of The Bothy!

When its time for bed, The super king-size bed, (which can be split into two single beds if required) with its cosy duvets and pretty bedlinen, lets you wake refreshed and ready for another day.

A farm holiday in Scotland to remember!

The Bothy is situated at Cleugh Farm, a family run beef farm situated in South Lanarkshire, the heart of Central Scotland and only 30 miles from Edinburgh and Glasgow and Stirling. The Scottish Borders are also within easy access and yet despite its proximity to so many important locations, the cottage enjoys a quiet rural location – just perfect to get away from all the hustle and bustle.

Take a walk through quiet woodlands right on the door step. The broadleaved trees nestle just above the Mousewater River (pronounced moose) and there are plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities. Experience buzzards soaring high above, curlews nesting in the thrashes, the heron feeding on the fish in the Mouse Burn, or just stand back and enjoy the spectacular rolling hills and scenery from our high ground 7 miles north of Lanark.

Wilsontown, the nearby village, has strong links with past mining activities meaning there is plenty of hidden heritage to discover. Take in the sights of the Bell Pits, our Dovecot or even the disused water wheel – all on our farm land surrounding the cottage.

What a lovely setting for a wonderfully relaxing week. You have created a wonderful holiday experience that puts the best hotels to shame! Thank you, will definitely be back.
